The North End Neighborhood Council (NENC) has been actively involved in the discussions about the Home in Tacoma proposals. Unfortunately, it appears that the concerns of the NENC and other similar groups have been ignored and we have concerns that the proposal as it stands will have negative impacts on Tacoma’s Neighborhoods without addressing the goals that Home in Tacoma was supposed to address.
The North End Neighborhood Council will continue to advocate for changes in the Home in Tacoma proposal but we would ask that individuals and groups with similar concerns also make their concerns known. A simple way to do that is to sign the petition being promoted by the “Save Our Tacoma Neighborhoods” group with the following link.

In addition, there is a companion petition from Tacoma Urban Forest Friends (TUFF) which supports the inclusion of a “Landscaping Code” within the Home in Tacoma 2 proposal.
It’s the first time the Planning Commission has voted to include within the Tacoma Municipal Code a provision that actually affords protections of older trees in Tacoma’s tree canopy.
