Historic Cushman Street Fair – 9/7/24

Historic Cushman Street Fair!

September 7, 2024 from 11am – 3pm

Location: Cushman Substation – 3713 N. 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98406

Like last year, this will be a fun event at the Cushman and Adams substations with booths, music, food, and a video tour, plus free ice cream for kids again from Bliss!  But this year’s event is even more important for two reasons. One, the fair will be the final event in the Proctor Blocks series, which is taking place in different Proctor locations over the summer and will highlight ways that closing a street can energize the neighborhood. Hopefully you will attend some of these other events along with the Historic Cushman Street Fair to show how important it is for the City of Tacoma to support community events like this.

And two, perhaps more importantly, the fair will be the second event in the public process to help the City decide what to do with the Cushman and Adams substation properties. Otak, the consultant hired by the City of Tacoma to come up with proposals, will be starting their community engagement process on June 22nd, 2024 with visioning workshops, and they’ll be attending the Historic Cushman Street Fair as well. If you want to know more about the Cushman process, click here for more info and to sign up for updates.

Come look at the Cushman and Adams properties and enjoy the Street Fair on September 7! Connect with your neighbors! Dream about the possibilities for the site!
