Two members of the Charter Review Committee Latasha Palmer and Rebecca Stith will discuss the proposed charter amendments appearing on the November ballot and address the charter-review process generally and several key proposed amendments that the Council did not send forward to the ballot including the one on Neighborhood Councils.

More Trees, Please! Fall Tree Planting Time is Here
This summer, a record was set for the most number of consecutive days with temperatures of
80 degrees or more. Two of the most beneficial ways to keep cool, is to preserve our City’s
shady tree canopy and plant more trees for our future generations to enjoy.

• Tree Coupon Program These coupons are available to request from Oct. 1 st until March 15
from Tacoma Urban Forestry. These coupons can be redeemed by March 31 for $30 off per tree
purchased (up to 3 trees) at local participating nurseries including our local Gardensphere.

WSU’s “Grit City Tree Count” in Tacoma
Washington State University’s Forest Health Lab would like to enlist volunteers to map and
monitor Tacoma’s Urban Forest. https://treehealth.wsu.edu/tacoma/

Tacoma Urban Forest Friends (TUFF) We encourage our Tacoma residents to sign the
TUFF Petition that asks the Tacoma’s City Council to take steps to protect and extend our tree
