The June meeting is going to be HUGE

We’ve got two big topic presentations this month. You won’t want to miss this one! Please note that there will be an opportunity to ask questions about each of the presentations, but there is no opportunity for public comment on other topics. There will also be no liaison reports this month.

The first presentation is on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs–like a basement apartment) and Detached Accessory Dwelling Units (DADUs–like a garage apartment). This, like the Mixed-Use Center zoning, is a planning issue. The city is looking at increasing density and affordability by allowing ADUs and DADUs in single-family zoned areas, essentially making it so there’s not single-family zoning. Maybe you want more density and affordability options. Maybe you’d rather keep single-family zoning the way it is. If you want to have your say, come to the meeting on Monday and hear from the planner who’s working on this issue.

The second one is on Click! Cable TV. You’ve likely read about proposals to lease our network from Wave and Rainier Connect. We’ll welcome panelists Mayor Marilyn Strickland, Councilmember Anders Ibsen, Tacoma Public Utilities Board Vice Chair Bryan Flint, Tacoma Public Utilities Board Member Monique Trudnowski, and North End resident Mitch Robinson, who is a former Click! employee and currently the Senior Director of Trade Marketing at Zillow. This is going to be a great discussion!
