8. Multi-Family Tax Exemptions
Mike Lonergan Pierce County Assessor Treasurer (and a North End resident) directs a team of 75 people in revaluing
325,000 properties each year, for the purpose of assessing $2 billion in taxes to fund local schools and government
services. He will explain what a MFTE is and its impacts, both for the receiving developer and for the taxing
authorities who are providing the exemption. Time permitting, Mr. Lonergan has agreed to answer any other property
tax questions.
9) Home in Tacoma 2
Tacoma City Council unanimously approved the Home in Tacoma zoning and standards package, a landmark decision that paves the way for more diverse, affordable, and sustainable housing options throughout the city at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The new zoning regulations will officially take effect on February 1, 2025.
Brian Boudet, Division Manager and Alyssa Torrez, Senior Planner with the City of Tacoma’s Planning Development Services Department will explain what the final regulations are and what changes they will bring to the City.
