Thank you to the 60+ people who joined the North End Neighborhood Council (NENC) meeting
on Monday February 3. Unfortunately, we continue to have a problem in managing the Zoom
connection so the attendees joining virtually were not able to hear the audience questions or
participate in the dialogue with Council Member John Hines about enhancements to the City of
Tacoma’s Urban Forestry Program.
Council Member Hines is still soliciting comments to the three questions that he asked at the
meeting:
Do you think that trees on private property are public assets?
1. What requirements should the city have in place to maintain trees while also upholding private property rights?
2. Who should pay for maintaining trees on private property?
3. Should a resident be allowed to remove a tree on private property for any reason?
