The City of Tacoma is studying potential future uses for the historic Cushman and Adams Substation sites and buildings. Several public engagement workshops and outreach events will be held in the summer and fall of 2024 to gather input on the vision and potential future use scenarios, which will inform the future uses for these sites.

Proctor Food Fest, Sunday, August 25, 11:00-5:00, Food trucks, live entertainment and participation from local Proctor businesses.
3rd Historic Cushman Street Fair, Saturday, Sept. 7th, 11:00-3:00, next to the Cushman and Adams substations on North 19thstreet. You and your friends and family are invited to enjoy a fun afternoon of music, community booths, children’s activities, food carts and also have a voice in the future plans for the unique historic Cushman and Adams sites. Sat., August 3, 6am – 8pm, Volunteers needed for the “Pierce County Urban Heat Mapping.
WSU’s “Grit City Tree Count” in Tacoma
Washington State University’s Forest Health Lab would like to enlist volunteers to map and monitor Tacoma’s Urban Forest. “Volunteers will also learn skills for identifying trees, assessing tree health and detecting pests and pathogens.” For more information go to
