What is a ‘Neighborhood Council’?

http://cjni.com/CMS/UI/Modules/BizBlogger/rss.aspx?tabid=133550 Each of Tacoma’s Neighborhood Councils serves as an independent, non-profit citizen organization to promote citizen-based efforts for neighborhood improvement.

Kristiansand

Any resident, business owner, employee, property owner or member of an existing neighborhood group within the Neighborhood Council area can join the Council.

The North End Neighborhood Council works with stakeholders in this neighborhood to improve awareness of community issues – such as transportation infrastructure, public safety, arts, and education – by providing a forum centered on community participation. By providing such a forum, the Council can help to inform the community of these issues, as well as inform the Tacoma City Council, which relies on its neighborhood councils to take the pulse of the community.

The North End Neighborhood is generally defined as being east of Orchard St, north of 6th Ave, and west of the Stadium business district. The North End is comprised of the original settlement in Tacoma, vibrant business districts, great public schools, and top-notch parks.

Would this be the proper forum to address concerns regarding things in the neighborhood that impact the safety of residents?

Hello Kimberly. You are welcome to post a concern here, however public safety concerns are better addressed directly to the North End’s Tacoma Police liaison, Lt. Dan Still, at DStill@ci.tacoma.wa.us, or the non-emergency contact number is (253) 591-5697. If you’d like to bring the concern to the attention of the full neighborhood council, you’re encouraged to attend one of our upcoming meetings to address the council.

Thank you. The concerns are not about crime.

Hello, I work in Student Affairs at UWTacoma and we have a partnership with Shared Housing Services in which we look for home providers that are willing to rent affordable rooms to students. I would the opportunity to share more.

Hi Roseann, I am forwarding your message to the NENC Officers email. One of the officers should be in touch soon. Sorry for the delay and thanks for reaching out!

The idea of an apartment building across from the Post office. Has the City LOST ITS MIND?
80 units and 30 spaces?? Why not just rename Proctor Capital hill?
    Proctor is over. Ruined. Toast.
Culpepper book is leaving, who’s next
    Fracking yuppies!!

How are y’all currently meeting with the Covid restrictions? I’d like to be part of the meetings?

Hi Kristen, sorry we didn’t see this comment earlier. NENC is holding virtual meetings, still on the same schedule as our in-person meetings (first Monday of each month).

Our most up-to-date information is typically on Facebook (we have an inset on the right side of this webpage where you can see current Facebook postings) but recognize that not everyone uses that platform. I am updating the website event listings now, as well. Check out information on the April 2021 meeting here:
